Mini CubeOverview
The Mini Cube performs the erythrocyte sedimentation rate on blood collected in the same lavender-top EDTA tube already drawn for a full blood count, so no dedicated citrate tube is needed and the patient is not bled twice. Results come back in about 20 minutes, with samples loaded continuously rather than batched.
It will run the test on as little as 0.5 mL of blood and detects paediatric samples automatically, which makes it practical in clinics seeing children. The ESR value can optionally be corrected for samples with a haematocrit below 40 per cent.
The touchscreen interface carries a USB port and Bluetooth connection to a printer, with monodirectional or bidirectional LIS connection. Internal quality control is monitored through Levey-Jennings plots and Westgard rules. Like the larger Cube, it produces no waste materials.
