The Alfa Plus runs a complete blood count from a capillary sample taken by fingerstick, through a dedicated capillary inlet, so a result does not depend on drawing a venous tube. That matters in paediatrics, in outpatient clinics and anywhere venepuncture is difficult or slow.
Analysis time is short and maintenance needs are low, which keeps the instrument available rather than waiting on service. A complete blood count is the request that most often decides whether a patient is investigated further, treated or sent home, and the Alfa Plus is built around getting that result quickly enough to act on during the same visit.
