Overview
Gauze swabs are folded squares of absorbent cotton gauze used to clean and dry wounds, absorb blood and exudate during a procedure, apply antiseptic to skin before an incision or injection, and pad a dressing. Folded edges keep loose threads away from the wound bed, and the multi-ply construction gives the bulk needed to soak up fluid without falling apart.
Supplied sterile in sealed packs for aseptic procedures and non-sterile in bulk for general cleaning, in the standard square sizes stocked across theatre, wards, and dressing rooms.
