Overview
Safety boxes are rigid, puncture-resistant cardboard containers used to collect used needles, syringes, and other sharps for direct incineration, the standard WHO-recommended approach for immunisation campaigns, outreach clinics, and facilities without a rigid-container collection service. They arrive flat and fold into shape without tools, carry the biohazard symbol and a fill line, and have a small aperture that admits sharps but resists retrieval.
Once sealed the whole box is incinerated, so no one handles the contents again. Widely stocked by clinics, vaccination programmes, and theatre departments.
