Overview
Surgical gowns give the operating team a sterile barrier over the torso and arms, protecting the patient from contamination and the surgeon from blood and fluid exposure during a procedure. The gown wraps at the back with ties, has knitted or elasticated cuffs to sit under gloves, and uses reinforced fabric across the chest and forearms where fluid contact is heaviest.
Supplied in disposable or reusable form and in a range of sizes, they are a standard theatre consumable used alongside caps, masks, shoe covers, and sterile gloves.
