Breast cancer in Kenya is still diagnosed late far more often than it should be, and the reason is rarely clinical awareness — it is access to screening. A mammography unit is one of the few pieces of equipment whose presence in a facility changes the stage at which patients present.

The LANMAGE system is a digital mammography platform built for screening throughput as well as diagnostic work-up. Digital acquisition removes film processing entirely, which matters in two ways: images are available for reporting immediately rather than after a wet-processing cycle, and the recurring cost of film and chemistry disappears from the department budget.

Mammography is the most demanding installation in most radiology departments. Room shielding, floor loading, power quality and dedicated reporting conditions all have to be right before the unit arrives. Medix carries out that site assessment first, advises on radiation-protection requirements and regulatory approval, and installs and commissions the system on site.

Applications training is delivered to the radiographers who will perform the examinations — positioning technique determines image quality in mammography more than any specification on a datasheet. Preventive maintenance and quality-control support follow under contract, because a screening programme depends on a unit that is available every clinic day.
