Alternating-pressure ripple mattress with a pump, used to prevent pressure ulcers in immobile patients.
Overview
A ripple mattress sits on top of a standard hospital mattress and uses a small electric pump to inflate and deflate alternating air cells on a set cycle, so the points carrying the patient’s weight change every few minutes. Continuously shifting the load prevents the sustained capillary compression that causes pressure ulcers in patients who cannot reposition themselves.
The pump offers adjustable pressure to suit patient weight, and the cover is wipe-clean and fluid-resistant. It is standard equipment in ICU, high-dependency wards, care homes, and home nursing for bed-bound patients.
Medix East Africa supplies the ripple mattress with pre-installation site assessment, delivery, installation and commissioning by our own biomedical engineers, and acceptance testing before handover. Operator training is delivered to the staff who will use it day to day, and technical training is available for your biomedical department.
After handover we hold genuine spare parts for the equipment we supply, run preventive maintenance under annual contract, and respond to faults across Kenya and the wider East African region.
