The BCM-10 Ultra is the portable scale and mixer used at the donor chair, weighing the bag as it fills while rocking it to combine blood with anticoagulant. At 5kg and 280 x 270 x 255mm it is built for donation rooms and outdoor blood camps alike.
Microprocessor control keeps deviation under 1 per cent, blood bags are tared automatically, and collection can run to 600ml net with a taring range up to 999g. Mixing runs at 12 to 14 cycles a minute, which mixes anticoagulant properly and improves the survival of separated components.
Donor safety drives several features: a pause facility suspends collection if a donor feels faint, and gentle motorised clamping closes the tube when the target volume is reached without damaging live blood cells. A rechargeable battery gives up to 10 hours of backup and switches over automatically if mains power fails mid-donation, with an inbuilt charger, overcharge protection and a battery status display.
