The BSC-1300IIB2-X is a Class II Type B2 total exhaust biosafety cabinet, 4.3 feet wide. Its defining difference from a Type A2 cabinet is airflow: nothing recirculates and 100 per cent of the air is exhausted outside the building, which is what handling cytotoxic drugs, chemotherapy agents, radionuclides and volatile chemicals requires. It ships with an exhaust blower and four metres of 300mm diameter PVC duct, and must be ducted through a wall or roof.
A 4.7-inch colour display shows real-time values and includes an appointment timing function, and password protection on power-up prevents unauthorised use. Fan speed adjusts automatically as the filter loads, and power-failure memory restores the previous state with a visual alarm.
Interlocks link the UV lamp to the front window, the UV lamp to the fan, and the fan to the window, so the cabinet cannot be operated in an unsafe combination.
