Overview
The manual plasma expressor is the simple mechanical device used after a spin in the refrigerated centrifuge, pressing plasma out of the bag and leaving red cells behind. It needs no electricity at all, which matters where power is unreliable.
A high-tension spring-loaded stainless steel compression plate applies uniform pressure across the whole bag, which maximises plasma yield while minimising haemolysis — pressure concentrated in one area breaks red cells. An ergonomic handle with an auto-adjusting lever drives the plate, and the see-through acrylic front panel lets the operator watch the layer boundary as yellow plasma rises and red cells stay down, so expression can be stopped at exactly the right point.
It takes one bag at a time, works with standard 350ml and 450ml blood bags, and handles double, triple and quadruple bag systems. The body is powder-coated for a long service life on a laboratory bench.
